I'm Dr. Brian Spitsbergen, Ph.D., a passionate executive leader, therapist, and organizational consultant with over 35 years of experience in behavioral health, education, and nonprofit leadership.

Currently, I serve as President of the Michigan School of Psychology and run my own private practice, Brian Spitsbergen PhD PLLC, where I work with individuals and organizations to foster growth, resilience, and meaningful change.

Throughout my career, I've built bridges between therapy, leadership, advocacy, and education. I believe in a humanistic, client-centered approach that values collaboration, creativity, and solutions tailored to each unique challenge.

Career Highlights

As President of the Michigan School of Psychology, I lead strategic planning, academic development, and student-centered initiatives to drive growth and innovation.

I founded Michigan’s first Recovery High School, helping adolescents in recovery find academic and personal success.

I was invited to testify before the Michigan House Sub-Committee on Behavioral Health to advocate for mental health system reform and workforce solutions.

I contributed to Advanced Therapeutics in Pain Medicine with a chapter focused on ethical and socially responsible approaches to substance use treatment.

I'm proud to be a community leader, working with local and state coalitions to promote youth services, substance use prevention, and violence reduction initiatives.

I've presented and delivered keynotes across Michigan on addiction recovery, trauma-informed care, youth behavioral health, and leadership in healthcare and nonprofits.
